Review: "Star of the Morning"
I'm not a connoisseur of fantasy novels, as I often find them to be either too dark, or too hard to relate to the characters. But, since I love Lynn Kurland's historical novels and characters, I had to try this one out.

And it is fabulous.

Yes, it is fantasy, with the darkness of evil... yet you are not dragged down with lurid descriptions of the evil. Rather, you experience the emotions and thoughts and feelings of the characters as THEY deal with the evil that is thrown at them. And you share in their victories, just as you share in the conversation and laughter they share when they are warm and safe around the fire.

And of course there is magic... but it is a silvery ribbon that winds through characters that are still so human that it is easy to relate to them. They have magic and know spells... but they use them in the same utterly human ways that you or I use our knowledge and skills.

And then there's the romance. It is there, running beneath the surface and threatening to spill over any moment... yet it never does. That has been saved for future books. But its sweetness draws you into the story until you, also, have fallen in love with the shieldmaden and the mage.

So read of Morgan, an orphan who has learned to shun magic in favor of the more visible and tangible skills of swordplay... while she slowly begins to find that magic is in her, she cannot run from it, and it does have its uses.

Read of Miach, the archmage of the powerful kingdom of Neroche, as he quietly defends the kingdom against far more danger than anyone realizes... as he is tempted the mis-use the power that few know he holds... and as he discovers a love that is more powerful still.

And escape to a world where men and women alike answer to the calling that has been laid upon them... to save the innocent masses that are unaware of the danger that threatens them.

Review: "If I Had You"
Injured in an accident when a small child, Anne of Fenwyck walks with a limp, and is teased and tormented by others. But not Robin de Piaget, eldest son of Rhys, master of Artane.

Anne has only loved one man for the whole of her life, Robin. But when he went off to war, she never expected to see him again.

Though life at his brother's keep in France was somewhat dull, at least there were plenty of garrisons for Robin to pummel into the ground, he was an excellent swordsman. But a letter from their mother sends Robin and his brother Nicholas back home.

This was the first book by LK I ever read, and it still holds a special place in my heart.

The constant struggle for Robin is hiding the love he feels for Anne, and Anne can only wonder where they went wrong. They were very close as children, but no more. Robin has a temper, and is quick to defend Anne, but also willingly insults her as well. Ah, the course of true love never did run smooth!

Through all of their faults, and all of their adventures, true love wins all.

All in all, a wonderful read for anyone looking for a true Lady and her dashing Knight.

I've read this book at least 6 or 7 times now. ;) Great book!

Review: "Another Chance to Dream"
To me this is the beginning of the series. I cried so hard in some spots I had to take a break before I could start reading again. I am a 73 year old male and just happened to purchase "Love Came Just in Time"; I read it, I was hooked. I have scoured the public library to find other novels by Lynn, and finally said to myself, "I am going to try and buy all the books about this family that I can, so that when I want to read them over, I can." Re-read "Another Chance to Dream", finished it today. Cried all over again.

I have now read twelve books written by Lynn and I have shed more tears then I care to remember. She has caused me great sorrow (Gillian/Chirstopher) and happiness (Abigail/Miles).

How I got through Gwen's wedding night with Rhys having to guard the door to her wedding chamber I will never know.

Lynn keep up the good work, the only criticism I have is you do not provide enough information in your Epilogues. I would like to know all the children born to the couples. Not all are listed in the Geneology Chart found in some of the books.
